OK- we have combined our two dreams…. so what in the world will Angels look like now? Let me take you on a journey into my vision!
First and foremost- there will be a “Main House”. This will be the living quarters for my family. Why in the world would I want living quarters for my family? There are multiple reasons… When dealing with foster children- newcomers do not come in from 9-5… it may be 3 in the morning. If that is the case- I want to be there for that baby coming into our facility. I want to be a welcoming face- open arms if needed. I want to be there to get that child in clean clothes and a clean bed- or to stay up with them all night if I need to. Angels is my dream-my baby- and I will put my all into it! I will be there around the clock.
When I was raising my daughters- I worked at our Center School- Margaret K Lewis- and was also a Special Olympics coach. My daughters were unified partners- meaning that they participated on teams with Special Olympians. From those experiences, they became better and more compassionate people as a result. SO- I want my children there- interacting and seeing these children and adults. I want them to know the love that I have for this population- and I want them to learn the compassion needed to make them better people as they move into their own adulthood. One day, I want them to WANT to take up my mantle and fight for these people!
Ok- so you will have my quarters. Then, we will have cabins for the foster babies- and apartment like areas for our adult residents. They will have 24/7 care here. We will have offices for therapies- be it occupational, speech, language, behavioral or physical therapies. They will receive all on site.
Also on site will be horses for equine therapy- other animals and nature areas. We will also have gardening opportunities, and quiet areas on the property. Indoors we will have a pool for water therapies, and a snozelyn room for sensory therapy. We would like to have a gym area with mats that will allow wheelchair bound residents floor time, and an entertainment room for socialization. Jonathan is great about adding to our WISH LIST- and I want to be able to make the majority of his wishes come true.
